AWF Launches 11th Build a Well for Bono's Birthday

A little late off the mark this year, but for those who don't follow African Well Fund, this year's 'Build a Well for Bono's Birthday' is still going strong. You can donate through the month, sign your name to the card sent to B, take advantage of some limited promotions we have, AND help improve access to clean water and sanitation for 1,800 schoolkids and community members in Mali. So win-win-win-win.

The African Well Fund hosts the 11th Annual Build a Well for Bono's Birthday fundraiser April 15 through May 31. AWF aims to raise $10,000 through this year's fundraiser to fully fund the Mali Dibaro School WASH Project, a $50,000 project to be implemented by Africare that will benefit over 1,800 schoolchildren and community members. Between 2003 and 2012, U2 fans donated more than $220,000 in Bono's honor to fund the construction of clean water and sanitation projects, implemented by Africare, that are benefiting more than 56,000 people in Angola, Benin, Burkina Faso, Liberia, Uganda and Zimbabwe.

From April 15th through May 31st, the African Well Fund invites U2 fans and others who are inspired by Bono's tireless activism on behalf of Africa to make a donation in honor of Bono's 53rd birthday. Your donation in any amount will go a long way to help advance the academic performance of these schoolchildren by improving their access to clean water and sanitation.

New week! New promos!

Even though the official Day has passed, we'll be accepting donations for 'Build a Well for Bono's Birthday' through the end of the month. We're at a little over $4300.00 now, and every bit counts. Anyone who donates is eligible to leave a message for Bono in the card sent to him c/o Principle.

Over the course of the next week, we have a few goodies from the card-maker herself, Lara Wineman.

Every year, Lara puts a lot of time into creating a mixed-media card that incorporates all the messages submitted during the Birthday Well fundraiser.

This year, we're auctioning off a mini-version! Lara will contact the winner to collaborate on the card (color preferences, specific lyrics, for a special person, etc) ensuring that the final product will be a unique and personalized work of art.

Things are drawing to a close now, and we're 64% of the way to our goal of raising $10,000.00 for this year's 'Build a Well for Bono's Birthday'! [And in so doing fully funding a new project in Mali which will provide clean water and sanitation to 1,800 kids and community members.]
