Adam Clayton playing his burgundy mist (finish) Fender Jazz Bass in London.

Not sure of the exact date of the picture. Someone sent it to me today.

yep the same picture was posted on a thread in the WTAHNN section. Bono is also in the pic playing piano :hmm:

^yeah I got that pic too and this is what I got with it:

El diario "The Guardian" publica a doble pagina una fotografia del estudio en donde el grupo ha terminado la grabacion del album. Una busqueda en la web de "The Guardian" nos devuelve este comentario [ I think we can take it that the Health and Safety Executive sent someone immediately to Olympic Studios after seeing your photograph of U2 at work (Eyewitness, December 12) ] que apunta a que se trata del estudio "Olympic"

**Let me Translate:::

The Diary "The Gaurdian" published a double page picture of the studio in which the group has completed the recording of the album. In a web search of "The Guardian" we recieved the following comentary,

[ I think we can take it that the Health and Safety Executive sent someone immediately to Olympic Studios after seeing your photograph of U2 at work (Eyewitness, December 12) ]

which indicates that this could be the "Olympic" studio.

 Ooooh a red bass! Nice!

Thanks for the pic and info! The studio looks a bit how they decorated the Fez one. :hmm:

I think that is Olympic Studio in London. Led Zeppelin recorded there... I am pretty sure the Rolling Stones did too.

As for the bass... That looks to be a mid-1960s burgundy mist (finish) Fender Jazz Bass.

It's the same one seen in the following video snippet...

...and this one...

Yea I know, but the setup and the carpet things, looks like how the Fez picture looked. :)

I've never seen this bass before, it's pretty nice!

Is he playing bass with distortion like a guitar in that first clip?? woah!

I like the riff in the 2nd, much better than the regular 8 notes stuff he usually plays!

Perhaps that was EDGE playing fuzz bass with ADAM's bass? I wasn't sure from the video.

mm I see the cream les paul, I think epiphone casino, seems like a big black...gretsch? load of effects, the explorer, a strat.. I think it's safe to say that Edge's corner is top left.
I see, lyrics board, gretsch Irish falcon, that's all for Bono? How dull!

 I see a Precision bass in Adam's equipment. Instant win. I wonder where his gold and green jazzies are, All I see in the pic are the two laklands and the sunburst one behind him.

Interesting how the pic name says Bono and Adam, is this a where's wally? or am I blind?

 Nevermind, I totally didn't see him! Now I do!

How to make a hit song revealed by U2

By Jason O'Brien

Tuesday December 16 2008

This is the reality behind the magic.

Two members of one of the biggest band in the world go almost unnoticed, surrounded by tonnes of recording equipment, as they put the finishing touches to their latest album in a London studio.

While Adam Clayton plays the bass, Bono tinkles the ivories in the background at Olympic Studios in our photograph taken by Kevin Davies. The studio, located in London's West End, is one of the most famous in the world with artists such as the Rolling Stones, The Who, Oasis and Bjork recording albums there.

And the studio's "live room" has been home to U2 for the past month.

The Dublin band had been due to release their 12th studio album -- which has a working title of 'No Line on the Horizon' -- in November, but decided at the last moment to continue recording.

It is understood that the band has penned up to 60 songs while working on the album, which is being produced by the team behind the 'Joshua Tree', Brian Eno and Daniel Lanois.

No release date has been confirmed for the new album which is expected early next year. The band was spotted out in the English capital last week shooting a video for the first single.

The video was shot by director Alex Courtes, who last worked with the band on the promo for 'City Of Blinding Lights' in 2006.

In London, Shooting A Video

Larry, Edge, Bono and Adam were holed up in a warehouse on the outskirts of London yesterday, shooting a video with director Alex Courtes.

Performing a brand new song, the band worked on the shoot from late morning till late night, the elegantly mustachioed Courtes directing proceedings on the green stage.

We are sworn to secrecy on the finer details of the shoot... but there may have been some marching girls involved. With their boots on.

Courtes last worked with the band - with Martin Fougerol - on the video for City of Blinding Lights in 2005. And their work on 'Vertigo' won them the Grammy for 'Best Short Form Video'. That was the first single release from 'How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb'...
