I really started to like this song live and I have a question - the song starts "in the shithouse a shotgun", so ... what is shithouse?

Like a torture room? With all the violence references later in the song (broken back to the ceiling, broken nose to the floor, rope around my neck, talk of chains and shackles) I mean.
