In the song "Lemon" there is the line about "banks and cathedrals". Does anyone think that this is a reference to the sacred and profane, or is it just two kinds of buildings you'll see in the city, or none of the above? I've been curious about these lyrics for a long time.

I'm going with the sacred/profane thing, myself. :)

No telling whether it was deliberate of Bono or if he just scribbled out a couple of words that fit the song, but the sacred/profane comparison sits well with the overall theme of Zooropa, I think.

I think you're right Verte. Then I think he took it a step further in 'Playboy Mansion', when he says
"The banks, they're like chathedrals
I guess casinos took their place"
