Hi all:

Apologies if this has been addressed in a similar thread - but does anyone have the lyrics that Bono sings/semi-raps @ the end of Moment of Surrender? It's in the 360 Rose Bowl DVD version, and I believe he did the same lyrics during the Saturday Night Live performance of MOS.

Any help on this would be appreciated....

Yeah I was wondering about this too, I got some of them, but bits (on the dvd, anyway) are a bit garbled. Something like;

Life is short but it’s the longest thing you will ever do
The worst, the curse ??? your dreams came true
God is a mirror in which each man sees himself
Hell is a place where you don’t need any help
When I first met you your face was like snow
Where [something unintelligible] go?
Your face, your grace, your lipstick trace, your case as you put it down,
8.17 on the ground, your faith in a clown,
Don’t leave me now,
Don’t leave me now.

Not sure. I'm probably horribly off haha

Yes!! I think we're close...

This is what I think goes in the missing line:

When I first met you your face was like snow
Wherever I went you'd be wanting (willing?) to go..
.

Or something like that. I love Bono's delivery on it - I seem to remember him doing it @ one of the shows I saw. Could have been Vegas, I'm not sure.

Thanks!

I agree with silkensky! I wish it was originally put on the NLONTH album. It definitely adds to the emotion of the song especially the last few lines.

Here's my suggestion from a thread posted a couple of months back: http://www.u2interference.com/forums/f194/rap-lyrics-in-concerts-at-end-of-mos-202888.html

It's grown on me for sure

Oooh the full lyrics! I think they should release an album with the songs from the Rose Bowl, I love this MOS :hyper: (if they haven't already, I haven't been home)

There's a chance that u2.com subscribers might be offered an audio disc of the show. In previous years we've seen releases of ZooTV Sydney, Slane 2001, and selected songs from Vertigo Milano/Chicago being offered through the official fan club.

Yeah that would make sense, I didn't think of that. :hmm: Thanks

If you don't feel like waiting on u2.com for offering an audio CD of the show,
there's free software available where you can extract audio from DVD's.
I have it (I forget the name) and tried it out with the "Linear" DVD and burned
a CD. The sound is scelllent! :hyper:

Love this! Thank you.
Now it's going to drive me nuts interpreting it. Hmmmm.
Anybody know what 8:17 might mean ?

Given that three of the band members are devoted Christians I would say that 8:17 is a bible verse.
"They did this, and when Aaron stretched out his hand with the staff and struck the dust of the ground, gnats came upon men and animals. All the dust throughout the land of Egypt became gnats."
- Exodus 8:17

That's just what I have noticed since I saw them perform this live and a quick research on Google. I for one think that the semi-rap at the end of Moment of Surrender, makes this song into the wonder that it is. Brilliant way to end the show, showing what U2 is all about.

Hope this helps.
