Ultraviolet:

i thought it was:

"I remember when we
could sleep on stones
Now we lie together
whispers in my arms"

real:

"I remember when we
could sleep on stones.
Now we lie together in
whispers and moans."

I thought the Beautiful Day lyrics were:

"In the maze of your imagination/
Your love is stuck"

Actual lyrics:

"In the maze of her imagination/
You love this town"

Bit of difference there! :reject:

I thought kind of like the same thing, but not totally...

I thought the lyrics were:

"In the maze of her imagination,
Your love is down"

:reject:

I always thought in UTEOTW, it was:

"I was down the hall just passing time
Last time we met it was a lonely room"

When it really was:

"I was down the hold just passing time
Last time we met it was a low-lit room"

Your Mighty Lyrical Stuff-Ups!

I long thought the lyrics to The Unforgettable Fire were something like:

Walk on by, walk on through
So stand to recieve your love so head-on
Stand tonight, eagle-eyed
I'm only asking but I, I think you know

Kind of love, where the wheels fly and colours spin
Throughout the hall, red win that punches the skin
Face to face, in a dry waterless place

Then I saw them and I was like, damn. I'm way off!

E tu?

i didn't botch it like that, but i too thought it was "throughout the hall"

"Walk to the Water"

Actual:

He said he was an artist
But he really painted billboards

I heard:

The city wasn't honest
With pretty painted billboards

A Man and a Woman

Actual:
You're gone and so is God

Heard:
Your Gonzo's God....rofl

Oh my gosh, I just read the lyrics to AMAAW on u2wanderer, I "misheard" quite a few lyrics, to the point I was basically making up my own song!

A couple more of mine:

Original of the Species

And you steal right under my door (Always thought it was "You're still right under my door")

Elevation

Can't sing but I've got soul ("And sing that I've got soul")

All Because of You

I thought the line was "an intellectual tortoise" but that can't be right, what a stupid line, I'm trying to find the real one here...it says the same thing. Hmm...

I always thought he actually meant "torture" by that. Maybe he forgot that "tortoise" is an animal instead of a torture?

It would make sense, at least:
I like the sound of my own voice
An intellectual torture

Add me to the list of people that thought "through alcohol" in The Unforgettable Fire was "throughout the hall".
It isn't "throughout the hall"? Damn. On reading the lyrics I realize I misheard a lot of those. For example, I can't remember ever hearing the word "carnival", and I thought "no not I" was "not an eye".

"Come and take a walk with your sister the moon" the first line to Mysterious Ways....:coocoo: I had no idea untill years later he was saying Johnny.... Who is Johnny??

I know the post I'm quoting is over a year old...

But "Johnny" is John The Baptist.

The L&P lyrics are:

Baby don’t fight
We can talk this thing through
Between me and you
I’ll call or you’ll phone
The TV is still on
But the sound is turned down
And the troops on the ground
Are about to dig in
And I wonder where is the love
Where is the love
Where is the love
Love and peace

Sorry this is old but this is what I thought this was when I first heard it...

Baby don't write
We can't talk this thing through
Wee-wee, me, you
I'll call on your phone
The teepee (TP) is still off
But the ground is turned around
And the groups on the ground
Are about to wig in
And I wonder where is the rug?
Where is the rug?
Where is the rug?
Rug's in piece

Hahaha

i could never figure out 'Tryin' to Throw....'

he says ,'I had a dream that I saw Dali with a supermarket trolley'

One step closer - im under a bridge and a REPTILES taken... evrything i call my own

Babyface - How could U2 be so kind... to an ordinary guy

Angel of Harlem - the madness in it belongs to me... instead of 'tonight this city belongs to me'

and not related but two from X and Y by Coldplay

Speed of sound - Ideas that you'll never find, only JUVENTUS could never design...

Talk - in the future where will i PEE...

 I so love misheard lyrics. And I can contribute something to the Coldplay ones: In "Clocks", where Chris Martin is singing "Shoot an apple off my head", I have always heard (and it still sounds like that to me): "Shoot an iPod of my head", which I always find hilarious.
I cannot think of any misheard U2 lyrics right now except some of the stuff that has already been posted here.

Ok, I've listened to Vertigo several times now since reading this thread and I still hear "Shazbot" or whatever... Is there something wrong with me? :reject:

As for other songs, my wife heard the "dressed up like a cockroach" line in stay... I had to correct her.

For the longest time in EBTTRT I heard the line as:

"Your heart reach out to a swarm of bees" (What ever that means  )

Instead of:

"You're honey child to a swarm of bees"

Bono sings: "i'll take you places, i'll buy you things, i'll show you places you aint never seen"

and i thought he was singing "ill take you places, i'll buy you things is saw your playstation and i was sick"

This one's not really humorous but I just realized that it's not "Monday morning 18 years ago." I'm not sure how I made 3 sylables into 2, really that sounds nothing like "are dawning." I guess it's cause on the Slane castle version he kind of sounds like he's saying "a-do (ning)"...

But yes Bono, I like your first single and I have given you at least 500 pounds.
