No Line on the Horizon:

One day she’s still
The next she swells
You can hear the universe
In her sea shells,
Oh yea

No, no line on the horizon
No, no line

I know….

Magnificent:

Magnificent,
(Oh, oh)
Magnificent

Unknown Caller:

Sunshine,
Sunshine

Sunshine,
Sunshine

I’ll go Crazy if I don’t go Crazy tonight:

Just a little hit
Every beauty needs to go out with an idiot
How can you stand next to the truth, and not see it?

Oh, a change of heart
Comes to

It’s not a hill,
It’s a mountain
As you start out the climb

Stand Up Comedy:

… Beauty
Dictator of the heart

I could stand up,
For hope, faith, love,
While I’m getting over certainty

Stop helping God across the road,
Like a little old lady

Out from under your bed…

Fez-Being Born:

Let me in the sound,
Let me in the sound, sound,
Let me in the sound

White as Snow:

Where I came from,
There were no hills at all
The land was flat,
The highway, straight and wide

My brother and I,
Would drive for hours
Like we’d years,
Instead of…

Breathe:

…Things I need you to know,

Three,
Coming from a long line of traveling sales people on my mother's side,
I wasn’t gunna buy just anyone’s cockatoo,
So why would I invite a complete stranger into my home?
Would you?

These days are better than that,
These days are better than that

Cedars of Lebanon:

Woke up in my clothes, in a dirty heap
Spent the night trying to make a deadline
Squeezing complicated lives into a simple headline

I have your face in an old Polaroid,
Tidying the children’s clothes & toys,
You’re smiling back at me,
I took the photo from the…

I love the "spent the night trying to make a deadline, squeezing complicated lives into a simple headline."

I'm still kinda underwhelmed. Concrete imagery tends to bore the heck out of me. :reject:

But I'm not judging them until I've heard the whole album.

I get the feeling that White as snow is trying to be like A sort of homecoming lyrically but these lyrics have nothing on ASOH

Where I came from,
There were no hills at all
The land was flat,
The highway, straight and wide

My brother and I,
Would drive for hours
Like we’d years,

VS

And you hunger for the time
Time to heal, desire, time
And your earth moves beneath
Your own dream landscape

That just depresses me. I'm sorry, but it is impossible for me to escape how amazing the ASOH lyric is to me compared to how dull the White as Snow lyric is.

This is all IMO, though... I don't claim to be the sole true judge of music.

heard them all a good 20 times each....i think all of them have great promise from the little I've heard of course. Songs like MOS and White as Snow you can't get much from....the only one that I'm kind of ehhh about it "Stand Up"...dont like the lyrics and the way it's such. but everyone is saying its kind of LEd Zep, so I'm sure the rest of the song has more promise.

I only listened to the clips once, because I don't want to spoil the excitement about the new album, but I must say I loved what I heard and it totally wasn't what I expected, at least with some songs. I cannot believe how incredible great White as snow and Cedars sound, lyrically as well as musically, Bono's singing is just awsome. I think I had goosbumps when listening to these songs and it's only 30 seconds. I totally love love love the storytelling Bono is doing, that something I wanted to hear from him for a long time and his voice is just perfect there.

It's a shame that from MOS and UC you can only hear the intros. All the other stuff I really liked as well, F-BB sounds a little weird, but well. I have been away for the weekend and decided to not get involved in the album discussion any more because I don't want to spoil anything for myself. I am just so happy and excited about the new album at the moment and I don't want to discuss or analyze it before I have officially heard all the tracks and made up my mind.

Being born

Six o´clock
On the autoroute
Burning rubber, burning chrome
Bay of Cadiz and ferry home
Atlantic sea cut glass
African sun at last

Lights... flash past...
Like memories
A speeding head, a speeding heart
I´m being born, a bleeding start
The engines roar, blood curling wail
Head first then foot
The heart sets sail

Cant wait to hear crazy tonight: "every beauty needs to go out with an idiot" has got to be one of the truest lines ever spoken, unfortunately.

Is this for real?

Hmmm... we gotta understand that this lyric will be in a fillm about Afghanistan...it makes a bit of sense.

Holy crap.

Coincidence - to past the time before the album links, I've decided to re-read u2 by u2. (Side point - good thing to do; as you read chapter relating to an album, listen to it).

Anyway, in opening chapter Bono is talking about his family background.

To paraphrase:
'All my uncles come from a line of door to door salespersons. Even I'm a door to door salesperson - I sell songs songs from house to house'.

Funny how I read this literally 5 minutes after I heard the Breathe clip.

In his letter to Elle magazine this month he says this:

I come from a line of traveling salesmen on my mother’s side. One of them, my Uncle Jack, always told me that when you’re making your pitch don’t get the door slammed in your face. I know I’m in danger of that right now.

Can you tell us more about that letter?

Stand up comedy

Love love love love love...
Love love love love love...

I got stand up and tale a step
You and I have been asleep for hours
I got to stand up
The wire is stretched in between our two towers
Stand up in this dizzy world
Where a lovesick eye can steal the view
I´m gonna fall down if I can´t stand up
For your love

Love love love love love...

Stand up, this is comedy
The DNA lottery may have left you smart
But can you stand up to beauty, dictator of the heart
I can stand up for hope, faith love
But while I´m getting over certainty
Stop helping God across the road like a little old lady

Out from under your beds
C´mon ye people
Stand up for your love

Love love love love love...

I gotta stand up to ego bet my ego´s not really the enemy
it´s like a small child crossing an eight lane highway
On a voyage of discovery

Stand up to rock stars, Napolean is high heels
Josephine, be careful of small men with big ideas

Out form under your beds
C´mon ye people
Stand up for your love

Love love love love love...

God is love
And love is evolution´s very best day
Soul rockin´people moving on
Soul rockin´people on and on
C´mon ye people
We´re made of stars
C´mon ye people
Stand up then sit down for your love

Love love love love love...
Love love love love love...

Bloody hell..

If that's you, Super Yo, give Bono the boot.

I prefer the Fez lyrics, but hey...

Out form under your beds
C´mon ye people
Stand up for your love

Love love love love love...

God is love
And love is evolution´s very best day
Soul rockin´people moving on
Soul rockin´people on and on
C´mon ye people
We´re made of stars
C´mon ye people
Stand up then sit down for your love

Love love love love love...
Love love love love love...

Hmmmm, mmkay.
"Come on ye people?" - What century is he singing from there?
All the God is love stuff makes me want to vomit. Damn. This is like lyrics my friend in high school was writing when he went thru his whole Born Again phase. Boring. Preachy. Preachy and Boring.
Hopefully the song's good.

only thing that makes me doubt those SUC lyrics is the lack of some of the lyrics mentioned in the reviews we've seen... like 'i'm not a lover or a fighter, failed at both' or something
