American Prayer

Hi there
I don't know if you already heard the new song...made by Bono and Beyoncé and performed in the 46664 concert in South Africa (To raise funds for the HIV problem min Africa)
Well...I've just seen it, and it made me shake inside!! And made glad...because we have been waiting so long for the new U2 album...but the boys are doing some nice things as well as working in the new album!! Cheers to you guys...you are HUGE!!
Anyway, here are the lyrics of the new song!!

American Prayer

This is the time
To finish what we started
And this is no time
To dreams

This is the road
It can turn off the dark tonight
Maybe then we might see

I wanna know the healing of American prayer
I wanna know the meaning of American prayer
I want to believe in American prayer
But I can hear children screaming … American prayer

This is the ground
It keeps our feet from getting wet
And this is the sky
Over our head
Remember that

What you see
Depends on where you stand
And how you jump will tell you where you gonna land
Will tell you where you gonna land

I wanna know the healing of American prayer
I wanna know the meaning of American prayer
I want to believe in American prayer
But I can hear children screaming … American prayer

Hold on, let’s not get tired
Don’t kick at the darkness
Make the lights brighter

OOOOOOOOOO
African Prayer
OOOOOOOOOO
This is our African prayer

I wanna feel the healing of African prayer
I wanna know the meaning of African prayer
I want to believe in an African prayer
But I can hear children screaming … African prayer

my_kite, here's the lyrics to the original if you're interested (I heard the it the first time it was played):

This is the time to finish what we started
This is no time to dream
This is the room (where) we can turn off the dark tonight
Maybe then we might see

American prayer
American prayer

This is the ground that keeps our feet from getting wet
This is the sky over our heads
Remember that what you see depends on where you stand
And how you jump will tell you where you're gonna land

This is my American prayer
American Prayer

My oh my
Let's not get tired
Let's stop kicking at the darkness
Make the light, make the light brighter now

These are the hands, what are we gonna build with them?
This is church you can't see
Give me your tired, your poor and huddled masses
You know they're yearning to breathe free

American Prayer
American Prayer

If you get to the top of the mountain
Will you tell me what you see?

If you get to the top of the mountain remember me

If you get to the top of the mountain
Will you tell me what you see?

If you get to the top of the mountain remember me

Remember me

Sorry I typed that fast while at work, hope it's set up right!

Sadly, it upset me when Bono said he didn't feel the music that night. Well, you have bad a good days. But you are right!

Tania, you had the right version (from the South Africa concert). The version I posted is the original live version from 2002 (which is VERY similar to the original demo version that you can hear while the song was played live).

Question: why Bono calls Beyoncé "Queen Bee"?
It's linked to the way she's dressed?

I love this song!!!

Just a guess here. Bono's often referred to as "King B", so maybe she's his "Queen B"?

At the end of their duet at the 46664 concert, there was this little exchange:

Bono: Beyonce!
Beyonce: Bono!
Bono: I got you babe!

I died laughing when I saw that...
(this is just my ghost haunting you...)

}:)~
