hi,
i think that "even better" is about TV in general. one of the big influences behind achtung baby was the fact that society in general was so obsessed with the gulf war being televised live on tv. bono wanted to point out how we think that tv is "even better than the real thing" b/c we cant face the reality of war and its effects. it takes us "higher" and makes us "satisfied." we are so out of touch with reality that even though we fly high into the sky thru our experiences watching tv it does not melt our wings. what i mean is that suppose someone is watching a space shuttle take off and fly into the sky and we sit there and watch it as it flies out into space. we see things we have never seen before and it is all possible thru tv. yet it does not melt our wings in a manner of speaking. i know my expanation os far out but this is what i thought. but all the other ones were very credible especially the greek interpretation. that was very interesting.

Yeah! i agree
Tv the drug of the nation was the theme of the ZOO Tv tour, the acess and excess of tv was well epitomised during the shows.
But i'm not too sure that EBTTRT is dierceted at TV in particular, it has trademark U2 angle to it.

Gee every time I think about it it seems it's a parody of the "The Real Thing" slogan used by coke....mabye it's talking about commercialism in a general view or something. Or even better still it's not talking about anything and it's just there to confuse people!

I love that theory 'cause it's even better than just having subtle lyrics
