Grammy memories amid the music

Winners' trophies aren't the only keepsakes on tap. The Grammys' golden anniversary presented a golden opportunity for the Recording Academy to introduce souvenirs celebrating the show's rich history. USA TODAY surveys the selection.

Grammy producer Ken Ehrlich relates the roller-coaster process of staging a live, performance-driven musical pageant complicated by celebrity egos and insecurities. In addition to describing negotiations and preparations that led to Grammy's most memorable collaborations, reunions and showstoppers, Ehrlich offers glimpses of nail-biting calamities and setbacks.
