At the Grammys!

Grammy memories amid the music

U2Today.com

Winners' trophies aren't the only keepsakes on tap. The Grammys' golden anniversary presented a golden opportunity for the Recording Academy to introduce souvenirs celebrating the show's rich history. USA TODAY surveys the selection.
•At the Grammys! Behind the Scenes at Music's Biggest Night (Hal Leonard Books, $29.95). Grammy producer Ken Ehrlich relates the roller-coaster process of staging a live, performance-driven musical pageant complicated by celebrity egos and insecurities. In addition to describing negotiations and preparations that led to Grammy's most memorable collaborations, reunions and showstoppers, Ehrlich offers glimpses of nail-biting calamities and setbacks.

INTERACTIVE QUIZ: Are you Grammy savvy?

He reveals how Michael Jackson balked at appearing unless he was presented an award. Explaining why he turned down Britney Spears when she offered to be a 2006 presenter, he writes: "We have been careful about turning the Grammys into a sideshow."
