LOL, one last comment. Isnt it amazing how all the new registered people with one post are coming out of the woodwork here? HMMM

And the crack dealer thing was just an analogy, you obviously understood my point by your comment. So I think it was valid.

I also agree completely though about the trust thing. It is sad. Someone not keeping their word is just pathetic on any level. I'am just glad I wasnt involved in this whole fiasco other than this thread. Some people are going to have some dirty hands and damaged reps as a result, right or wrong.

I know there MUST be better versions out there, because the seller didn't pull it out of the original deck that recorded it, but I stand by my statement, that I have never seen a better gen of ANY non-released video than this (IP excluded)

The buyers wanted the video bad enough to pay for it. They are just as stupid/hungry/bad as the seller is. No one held a gun to someones head to buy it.

Trust me, it's completely traceable to the above person. Even the seller knew he was gonna do it, and the seller never made any deal to "Never trade it". But a deal was made to make sure IF it was traded, the buyer would send whatever rare stuff he got back to the seller. The buyer never sent the seller anything, and traded it for crap anyways. While I still think it's terrible to sell stuff, the buyer made a deal and didn't stick with it. The seller stuck to his deal. Even a rare iem was thrown in the deal, and the seller didn't spread that after the buyer spread the video. I still think the guy that "broke his word" was the buyer.

Actually, I don't have your email addy anymore. If you wanna chat ... chrisedge@yahoo.com

blue room, it?s impressive that you?ve made 1145 posts, but just because someone else hasn?t posted before or frequently isn?t reason to ridicule them.

ultiamtely, this hobby comes down to trust. as long as people can?t be trusted, things will continue to deteriorate, and some people will be less and less willing to trust others. and trust goes beyond keeping one?s word in a *rare* dvd trade deal?it also includes the respect issues that have been beaten to death in other forums, such as the whole *respect the taper*/server issues.

LOL, I'am not ridiculing you. I just think "some" of these posts are possibly from a friend of the source. Thats all I was talking about. It is kind of fishy. I agree post count doesnt mean jack (it just means I have wasted more time than you! LOL), its just the timing and dates registered that are interesting on this thread. Thats all. I also agree as I said before on the trust and respect thing. But it goes both ways. Not just the purchaser in this case.

OK, that is DEFINATELY it for me. I think most have said their peace on this.

Yes, Blue Room is a bootleg professional!!! He has posted over 1,100 times and monitors forums all day!! And, no matter what you say, you are pretty much wrong because he is always right and he knows everything. !!

Bottom line, a majority of video material exists because it was filmed with the intention of selling. If it wasn't for people selling, you wouldn't be watching more than a couple crappy VHS tapes. Get over it. If you have a problem with the morality or legality of selling, you have to realize that it is in technically illegal to be trading also. When you trade a couple CD's you are distributing fixed sounds of an unauthorized live performance which is illegal if you look up US code. The RIAA could track you down and get the postal inspector involved if they really wanted to, but basically they don't care-- just as they don't care about bootleg DVD's being sold on ebay. So, you're not all high and mighty and immune, Blue Room.

So next time you watch Syracuse 87, Irving Plaza, COH '86, 10/25/01, 10/27/01, and almost any other show out there, be thankful that it even exists. And why do they exist: because of intentions of profit and selling. I actually wish there were more dealers around because a lot of shows always go unfilmed (Elevation Columbus, Indy, Cleveland, Detroit, Hartford, etc.). I bet you wish you could watch a quality shot of Detroit 01!!!

So like I said, get over it.

while i don't think that every single filmer is out to make a profit, buckman is right about being thankful that a lot of stuff exists at all, and that, for better or worse, selling provides an incentive for some people to record shows in the first place. twenty years ago some shows were bootlegged in audio because bootleg sellers commissioned their own tapers--many people are able to listen to those shows *thanks* to the bootleggers.

it's also ironic that a lot of the people acting horrified at the los angeles '87 transactions worship and/or constantly provide *merchandise* to a certain website that sells CDs for $7.50 and DVDs for $20.

I know both people involved (no comments on how well), and I think the best thing to do is to close this thread. It's useless information for most people.

Lynne, I couldn't agree with you more. I know everyone involved in this situation and absolutely NO good can come of it. And as far as leaking, it's like the the pot calling the kettle black on this one.

Gotta agree there ultraviolet.

Some things im sure quite a few videos im sure have never seen the light of day the point depot 89 tv broadcast for example which there is a few seconds of it on the 1990 to 2000 dvd but..........

I think that the selling bootlegs is rediculous but I do appreciate the rarity of some things I myself have a few rarities.

But as for keeping something from leaking that's like waving a 100 dollar bill in front of someone and saying dont spend it eventually they will.

Id like to get a copy of this myself but I dont have any dvds :(

what does it mean for something to *leak* nowadays? the reality is that fewer and fewer people seem to actually trade nowadays. someone could make a promise not to trade something, but then *give* it to a bunch of *close friends*, who then each *give* it to a bunch of *close freinds*, etc. technically, the person hasn?t traded it, but overnight its spread like wildfire. (and, because all the *close friends* have it they don?t need to then trade with the source). as has happened in the audio realm, more and more video stuff won?t get traded/given out if the poor behaviour continues.

Has anyone been able to contact Michael in the last couple of weeks? I'm not getting a response and I'm supposed to get 2 non-U2 items after sending 5 rare shows. Someone fill me in what the deal is, thanks.

I have approximately 100 other U2 shows on DVD(or clones of masters), the stuff above is just a partial list.

Rattle and Hum: This 4 disc set is sourced from the original set of 4 VHS tapes that was leaked to a guy named Tracy, he circulated the footage on VHS back in the day, it has been fragmented and recirculated but i located the guy and arranged for it to be transferred to DVD. It is all footage that was originally leaked to him plus 45 minutes that he never shared until these DVD's.
Geneology: Master>VHS>DVDr(standalone)

If you are looking for the best quality for Rattle and Hum, this is the set you want, others have transferred 2nd gen VHS to DVD and such and some may have this set since i have shipped copies.
