i've read a few threads on various forums where guys have mentioned different bootlegs they listen to and how much they enjoy them.

i've never owned/downloaded/intentionally listened to a bootleg in my life (i dotn know why, i just never thought to:scratch: ) and i get the impression i'm really missing out on something.

can you guys recommend someof your favourites and help me on how i get hold of them?

thanks:D

Well, here's a list of some of my favourite bootlegs;

- 4 November 1981, Berlin: awesome concert with one of the two best performances of 11 O'clock Tick Tock ever.
- 6 May 1983, Boston: fantastic War era concert with a stunning performance of Twilight and an UNEDITED (and much more incredible) version of the UABRS CD's 11 O'clock Tick Tock.
- 5 June 1983, Red Rocks: the whole UABRS video gig. Well worth it.
- 29 April 1987, Chicago: the famous Rock's Hottest Ticket bootleg. The quality is mindblowing for an audience-recorded bootleg and it contains stunning renditions of songs such as The Unforgettable Fire, Exit, and Springhill Mining Disaster.
- 26, 27, 30, 31 December 1989, Dublin: the four famous Point Depot gigs. U2 at their peak. Nothing tops these gigs, possibly except for other Lovetown gigs, though the quality of those recordings isn't as good as these.
- 11 June 1992, Stockholm: best ZooTV concert in my opinion. Wonderful sound quality and what I feel is one of the most fired up performances of Bullet.
- 23 September 1997, Sarajevo: I say this is the most emotionally powerful concert ever played. You must get this one.

That'll do for my recommendations for now. I currently am mainly listening to bootlegs from the War, UF, JT, and Lovetown tours.

With regards to acquiring these bootlegs ... well, I'm on the other side of the planet, so I'm no help there!

OK here's some more good ones...

1981-03-06 Boston "Another Time, Another Place"
1982-12-06 London "An Electric Company On Stage"
1984-11-23 Nantes
1987-11-07 Denver - several boots of this show, all good
1993-08-28 Dublin "Westwood One" or "ZooEuropa"
1997-09-30 Tel Aviv "Shalom Israel"
2001-05-03 Cleveland "Cleveland Tea Party"
2001-10-10 Notre Dame

As for getting some, a couple places...www.eyeofthefly.net is one. Or if you're familiar with bittorrent you can get some shows at bt.easytree.org. Or even better, install DC++ software and visit www.u2bloodredskyhub.com and sign up for the hub...many shows shared there, both audio and video.

I recommend those ones :

You cannot offer to 'sell' bootlegs here. Only trading of bootlegs and selling of collectibles/real CDR's is allowed.

sorry for my bad english but what do you mean by "real CDR's"? If you mean "original" bootlegs on CD (I mean not copies), it's ok, I have originals...
If not, you can edit my post and delete the unauthorized offer ;-)
Thanks

I agree with that. I suppose Nantes is "Sharks in the high chair", right?

Probebly not. Sharks is a very good audience recording. The clean soundboard of the same show is better IMO. I would recommend it over the Sharks bootleg.

chtiman, I would go by the rule that if something was not officially released, it should not be sold...only traded.

That's right...Sharks is a nice audience recording, though if I remember right it's not complete. I received mine as "Unforgettable Fire Nantes" and is complete soundboard. Also, the boot of Dortmund 1984-11-21 called "The Fire Is Rising" has 5 soundboard tracks from that Nantes show, along with the 10 soundboard tracks from the Dortmund show. It's a nice boot also, though the Dortmund show is incomplete.

No problem, just edit my post and cut the "[All are for sale if you want...]" (I can not edit the post anymore...).
Thanks

wow chtiman, thats quite a list you've supplied me with there
thanks a lot!

Glad to see this.

This is my first time in this particular forum and have 60 plus shows in lossless format.

Couple questions:

What is this forum's view of mp3 sourced shows? I assume they are looked down upon due to preserving the highest possible quality of sound?

Second, do interferencers trade via etree? I haven't seen any personal sites, thus far from what I have read.

Dim, I believe/hope. From the top of the forum :

This is where you can list any U2 collectibles to trade, buy, or sell. This is NOT intended for commercial vendors, or similar activity. Ask questions and get information about U2 collecting. CDRs MAY ONLY BE TRADED, high quality/non-mp3 source

Um I don't know about that, I've never really gotten into Etree. There is some U2 stuff traded via Sharing the Groove and we're sharing over 4 terabytes of material at the bloodredsky hub. You should check out the hub.

Well most of my shows have been D/L from the Groove. I am at the point now where most of the shows posted there are ones I already have. I use my etree site, http://db.etree.org/theedge07 as a way to personally catalog all my live shows, not just U2 stuff.
Are there any users here that have a similar list that is interested in setting up a trade of non-mp3 sourced shows?

Also, if anyone is interested in setting up a B&P for any shows of anything I have, I would be happy to share.

oh jeez, sorry! I didn't understand exactly what you meant, obviously. :reject:

I'm working on a catalog of my shows, I guess I'll just stick a table on my site or something. I'll post back when finished, I have about 50 lossless shows. .
