I've been collecting some of the all time classic albums recently. And I've been compiling a list of what would make my all time top 20 and how many U2albums would be in there. So this my list:

1. "Sgt Peppers Lonely Heart Club Band" The Beatles
2. "The Dark Side of the Moon" Pink Floyd"
3. "Ok Computer" Radiohead
4. "Revolver" The Beatles
5. "The Joshua Tree" U2
6. "Definitely Maybe" Oasis
7. "London Calling" The Clash
8. "The Stone Roses" The Stone Roses
9. "Nevermind" Nirvana
10. "A Night at the Opera" Queen
11. "No Line On the Horizon" U2
12. "The Queen Is Dead" The Smiths
13. "The Bends" Radiohead
14. "The Beatles (White Album)" The Beatles

17. "Abbey Road" The Beatles
18. "Led Zeppelin IV" Led Zeppelin
19. "The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars" David Bowie
20. "Parklife" Blur

The list is likely to change but at the moment thats my top 20. So I'm interested to see what is everyone elses Top 20 and how many U2 albums would be in there?

2861U2, I never thought I'd ever see both Michael W. Smith and The Eagles--Hotel California in someone's top 5 list.

Madness!:der:

If you're already putting No Line in your all-time Top 20, you probably need to listen to more music, or have a little perspective and patience.

NLOTH in your top 20? Big call. Obviously this is totally subjective, but...

A rock top 20 has to contain albums like Born To Run, Dark Side Of The Moon, Ok Computer... no need to go on.

I can't possibly rate NLOTH anywhere near these sort of albums. It is in U2's 'second tier' of albums; i.e. not even one of their best, let alone how it compares to the best from everyone else.

1st Bob Dylan Highway 61 Revisted
2nd Bruce Springsteen Born to Run
3rd U2 Acthung Baby/Joshua tree (i know its cheating but i love them both)

1. U2 - The Joshua Tree

18. Radiohead - OK Computer
19. R.E.M. - Murmur
20. The Boo Radleys - Giant Steps

2 U2 albums in my top 5 - that's about right.

I'm not sure my post should be taken seriously. Although my attraction to U2, and what I define as 'good music' are rather... abnormal.

I kid I kid

LOLOLO

I got respect for Bomb! IT'S ALL GOOD! :D

I was really not into music at all before I heard it. So it hit me so hard with the "sense of childlike wonder" aspect. I was pretty blown away by it as I discovered that there was such a thing as good music out there. So that's why :D

I know it's "artistically safe" for U2 and all that jazz but I still love it passionately and remember how it made me feel the first...20 times I heard it

I totally understand! I was the same way with the Boy album...I discovered it right before Bomb came out...

Really opened me up to "good music" (Whatever that means)

I researched U2's influences, every artist Bono cited for inspiration or influence...I just googled and downloaded...and the old fashion way of going to the library and takening out a book on them.

That's how I became much more fimilar with the works of The Beatles, Joy Divison, Bob Dylan, The Rolling Stones, The Boss...all on my own.

Now I consider myself pretty well informed regarding music (I have a respectable collection to back it up!)

Okay, I'll give it a try... but I doubt this is accurate at all:

#1) Achtung Baby - U2
#2) Automatic for the People - R.E.M.
#3) The Joshua Tree - U2
#4) Toys In the Attic - Aerosmith
#5) Dog Man Star - Suede
#6) OK Computer - Radiohead
#7) No Line on the Horizon - U2
#8) Give Out But Don't Give Up - Primal Scream
#9) In Through the Out Door - Led Zeppelin
#10) Exile on Main Street - The Rolling Stones
#11) Led Zeppelin II - Led Zeppelin
#12) Monster - R.E.M.
#13) Nebraska - Bruce Springsteen
#14) Rattle and Hum -U2
#15) XTRMNTR - Primal Scream
#16) In Rainbows - Radiohead
#17) Nevermind - Nirvana
#18) American Idiot - Green Day
#19) The Great Escape - Blur
#20) Zooropa - U2

EDIT: This would be a LOT more accurate with ties.

^Dude, If you threw some Dylan on there we may just be musical soulmates

Dylan almost made it. I love him. It's on my fav artists of all time.
Actually, I think Bringing It All Back Home or Oh Mercy should be on that list;
