OK, so i'm probably in the small minority, but I would like to express my appreciation towards the song we all know as Miami.

I love the song! Even if it is disliked by others!

I just can't get the reversed drumbeat out of my head, and the freaky bass sound with the rusty guitar sound accompanied by Bono's 'casual' singing in my opinion.

So please, if you love Miami, please express your love for it here! :D

Weather `round here choppin` and changin`
Surgery in the air
Print shirts and southern accents
Cigars and big hair
We got the wheels and petrol is cheap
Only went there for a week
Git the sun got the sand
Got the batteries in the handy cam
Her eyes all swimming pool blue
Dumb bells on a diving board
Baby`s always attracted to the things she`s afraid of
Big girl with the sweet tooth
Watches the skinny girl in the photo shoot
Freshmen squeaky clean
She tastes of chlorine

Miami
My mammy

Love the movies
Love to walk those movie sets
Get to shoot someone in the foot
Get to smoke some cigarettes
No big deal we know the score
Just back from the video store
Got the car and the car chase
What`s he got inside the case
I want a close up of that face
Here comes the car chase

Miami
My mammy
Miami

I bought two new suits
Miami
Pink and blue
Miami
I took a picture of you
My mammy
Getting hot in a photo booth
Miami
I said you looked like a madonna
You said maybe
Said I want to have your baby
Baby
Baby
We could make something beautiful
Something that wouldn`t be a problem
At least not in
Miami
Some places are like your auntie
But there`s no place like

Miami
My mammy

Miami

Miami

I would have to say those lyrics are in my opinion, genius especially...

My favourite verse of the song, I absolutely love singing along to it. :D

This is actually one of my favorite songs on OS1. Any song that samples Mojo Nixon's "Elvis is Everywhere" gets my full support!

(I also love "Miami")

Fuck the Haters!

Fuck yeah!!
I love Miami, was listening to it on my walk to walk, down snowy Oxford Street, London, great track.
Love it live!!

It may actually have enough interest to sustain itself. I think that applies to just about any U2 song, but still.

Here's some thoughts I posted on the song a while back.

'I really enjoy the songs travelogue quality, it manages to effectively capture that strange mix between the mundane and the bizarre often experienced when going on a jouney. The lyrics are pretty evocative too, they conjure up images of people and places very well indeed, sometimes flippant, sometimes surreal and sometimes sinister.

Bono's vocal is somewhat off-key and I can understand how that could detract from people's enjoyment, but for me it seems to make sense within the song, which has a skewed and out of focus quality anyway, plus that continuous synthesizer melody and relentless drumbeat work well against the initial impression of this track being nothing more than a happy holiday snapshot. Not only that but it also concludes with Bono screaming at the top of his lungs for one last time in the nineties.

It'll probably never be anyone's favourite U2 track, but I don't think its entirely without merit.'

I would've thought of it as merely a fun and experimental track.

It wasn't intended to be a classic I don't think. But its great the way it is, and fun live. :D

And I don't care who has to listen to me

MIAMI freakin RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAWWWWWWWKS!!!!

Its awesome live as well... unfortunatley only a few good recordings out there, love the climax as bono yells out MIAMI after 'the sun shines west, the sun shines east but i know where the sun shines best' and flowing into a rollicking BTBS is sweet awesomeness as well!

A cracking experimental piece by U2. Captures a particular mood and attitude wonderfully. It's quite brilliant, it's not gonna appeal to everyone, because it is so far removed from the sound that made U2 fans love U2, but what a song it is....

I love Miami, though when I went to Popmart, I hadn't seen the light

Slow burner for me

Didn't really like it until I heard the Leeds version, fuckin hell that is some good stuff! An all too brief excursion into Aphex Twin/other electro territory
