This is mentioned in U2 by U2, the missing briefcase was recovered in 2004 (?), I don't remember if it was stolen or misplaced. I think Bono said something like the band was disappointed to learn that the stolen lyrics he bemoaned all those years were more like hieroglyphs than any actual songwriting.

The people who found the briefcase took some photos before they gave it back to Bono...one line said "POP" (maybe he was dreaming up an album some 15 years earlier?) haha

I do like October. It's a very good album. In fact, its the best U2 album - except for all the rest.
