What's the deal with Larry's cane?

I'm sure this has been talked about somewhere and I even tried to search so I apologize if I missed it, but nothing immediately came to light. Does Larry indeed have a cane in the back of the album picture, I just noticed it the other day...and if so, where is his tophat?
