According to this, they were billed in 1982 but cancelled. I'm somewhat of a U2 historian (a fact I'd only admit to on here LOL), but I've never heard this story before. Anybody have any info on this? It's entirely possible, they had nothing else going on at that time... in fact, they had no concerts at all in June of '82.
Also on the Slane Castle wikipedia page, it says U2 headlined the "Slane festival" in 1983, but it was moved to the Punchestown Racecourse. That seems not true... but maybe it is!
