U2: Letterman's House Band for a FULL WEEK

Apparently, 5 nights of U2 did nothing for letterman's weekly ratings as some people anticipated. Whether or not it affected U2 sales is debatable--U2 couldve gone #1 with as little as 52k units sold in the US.

interesting. Yeah i saw that the number 2 and 3 albums are very low in sales. you KNOW sales are down when Neko Case makes it to number three. I bet she is happy this week.

I think the only noticable effect that the letterman shows had was that people now know that Magnificent is awesome. Last weekend it was the highest charting U2 track on itunes at number 71 on the top 100, beating Get On Your Boots by a good measure.

I don't know if that was actually because of Letterman, but its the only thing i can think of. I know the single went to radio recently, but i think that was after the day i checked the itunes standing.
