U2/Bono copied military/naval uniforms look from the Associates?

The friendliest place on the web for anyone that follows U2.
If you have answers, please help by responding to the unanswered posts.
Well, Bono said that he copied much of his early stagecraft from MacKenzie, but personally I see more of an influence in the 1990s than the 1980s.

Well, John Lennon dressed like that in 1971/72. Probably a bit more iconic than The Associates...

I think Bono copied that Lennon look circa Pop, not Zooropa, which is more like the Who

U2 were possibly mocking Keith Moon's propensity for all sorts of outlandish uniforms including Nazi outfits:

Moon wasn't the only one, as this pic of the Stones' Brian Jones in SS uniform shows:

BTW, this is Lennon reading about Jones:

Both Jones and Moon were only taking then current fashions to their most shocking limits, and dozens of Punk band would imitate them ten years on.
Note that U2 were also using Nazi clips (from Riefenstahl's "Olympia") during segments of Zooropa, and Bono's Zoo Station opening act is clear homage to Dr. Strangelove (also with Nazi references)

EDIT it was Riefenstahl's Triumph des Willens, around the 42:00 mark:

That's like saying Bono stole the idea of his Sgt. Pepper's jacket he wore during the encore on Vertigo from My Chemical Romance.
