Welcome to Interference's brand new project that honors the finest of U2 delicacies. For the first time, we are attempting to have a consensus master list of just which U2 songs are actual classics.

The format manages to be even less daring than All That You Can't Leave Behind. Each round, I'll bring you a dose of album tracks or b-sides and you'll vote for whichever ones you deem deserving to be considered masterpieces and benchmarks of the U2 canon. Once a song earns 75%, it's been inducted into our Hall of Fame. If it manages to receive between 25-74.9%, the song will return on the next ballot and continue to appear on future ones provided it's not inducted and can stay above the 25% line.

All voting will be done in the thread. You can edit your post at any time or point out any ballot changes with a new post.

Your voting can be objective, subjective, reflective or ass-backwards. It's your choice, you beautiful U2 fan, you. :hmm:

This round's ballot:

An Cat Dubh
Another Time, Another Place
A Day Without Me
The Electric Co.
I Will Follow
Into The Heart
The Ocean
Out Of Control
Shadows And Tall Trees
Stories For Boys
Twilight

My Ballot:

A Day Without Me - My favorite from the album.

I Will Follow - Hard to ignore since it's such an important single.

Out Of Control - The band's first A-side, still a stunner.

An Cat Dubh, for the sake of this, needs to have Into the Heart attached to it.

In that way:

The Electric Co.
An Cat Dubh/Into the Heart
Twilight

Just vote for both An Cat Dubh/Into The Heart together if you think they need to be inducted as a duo.

As for 11 O'Clock Tick Tock, it will appear in the earliest of the B-side rounds.

ACD/ITH
ATAP
Twilight
OOC
Electric Co.

I Will Follow
An Cat Dubh/Into The Heart
Out Of Control
The Electric Co.

Not a huge fan of the first, but it's pretty undeniable. The other three are absolutely superb.

So we are voting on what songs deserve to be a U2 Hall of Fame? :hmm:

Exactly.

Results After 15 Ballots (snutes1's ballot):

Electric Co. - 12

I Will Follow - 10

Out Of Control - 8

An Cat Dubh/Into The Heart - 6

Twilight - 4

Another Time, Another Place - 2

A Day Without Me & Stories For Boys - 1

The Ocean, Shadows and Tall Trees - 0

Looks like "Electric Co." has a strong shot, pretty good chances for "I Will Follow". "Out Of Control", "An Cat Dubh/Into The Heart" & "Twilight" will probably return to the next ballot.

Edit: I've changed my mind. I'm doing four each time.

I Will Follow
Out of Control
Another Time Another Place (severely underrated)
The Electric Co.

Fucking love this album, so I'll abuse things and choose a swag of songs:

The Electric Co.
Twilight
An Cat Dubh/Into The Heart
Another Time, Another Place
Out Of Control
A Day Without Me
I Will Follow

One more ballot containing "I Will Follow" will perch it at the 75% goal...meanwhile, "Out of Control" continues to make a strong showing and should have momentum behind it in Round 2.

Results After 20 Ballots (dward1's ballot):

Electric Co. - 16 (80%)

I Will Follow - 15 (75%)

Out Of Control - 12 (60%)

An Cat Dubh/Into The Heart - 8 (40%)

Twilight - 5 (25%)

Another Time, Another Place - 4

A Day Without Me & Stories For Boys - 2

The Ocean, Shadows and Tall Trees - 0

An Cat Dubh
I Will Follow
Twilight
The Ocean

My first post!:hyper:

Welcome! And what a post! All four of those votes are going to make some sort of difference, that's for certain (first vote for Ocean, keeping Twilight above the Mendoza line, splitting An Cat/Into, etc.)
