Song Exploder - Cedarwood Road

Has anyone here listened to this? I couldn't find a topic on it.

Song Exploder | U2

Interesting bits about the writing process, and early demo audio.

Why the fuck did they not keep the rawness of that demo??? It sounds incredible.

Yeah I've heard some of this before, but had missed this episode.

The demo is cool. Love Larry's simple drum loop

Yep - the rawness of it is so appealing - I think this is the best example of what we all refer to as 'over-production'

I feel like this is just going to piss me off about the non-Danger Mouse production choices.

Reminds me a bit of when they re-used the Glastonbury riff last year:

https://youtu.be/NT5eQo98iu4

I know it was mainly done as a laugh, and not a fair comparison, but the the riff sounded so... Muted when it appeared in volcano. That little clip above feels like a hint of what could be if the band embrace a rougher sound.

The clip is from Edge's writing process, so it would be before he brought it to the band room for proper recording

The host is very good, great voice. Nice to hear them talking freely, could listen to them for hours when they're not talking in sound bites.

Wish they would something like this for every song, this gives the songs so much more meaning and really showcases their craftsmanship...

Thanks for posting this! Really good stuff. I love hearing the parts of the song separated out like that. I get an even better appreciation of the song as a whole because a lot of the elements get mashed together in the final product. Production, I guess?

Bono's riff ruined the song!
