So I've listened to nothing but U2 for a month.

The friendliest place on the web for anyone that follows U2.

I listened to nothing but U2 for a month to get all pumped up for the new album. Now that I have the album I've been listening to nothing but that:lol:
Just keeping listening to them if you're still in the mood:wink:

That's exactly what I did!! I decided I was gonna listen to nothing but U2 until the album leaked. I even deleted everything else from my iPod  then it leaked, and so i listened to nothing but that. I've now branched out to other U2 but I'm not sure if I'm ready to go to the outside world. If I break my streak it has to be for something pretty amazing, no? What song is worth it?

I've listened to more U2 in the last week than I have in the last year :reject:

I've been enjoying discovering other bands, and I've especially been getting more into jazz. It's been nice to be away from them.

I've gone through many periods where I wasn't into U2 as much...especially when I'm into much heavier music...U2 isn't exactly heavy. But now, I mean, I dunno, if I listen to something else I'll feel ...dirty

What song is worth it?

Tender - Blur
One Day Like This - Elbow
The Tourist - Radiohead
Bitter Sweet Symphony - The Verve
Summer '68 - Pink Floyd
Still Life - Suede
Drive - R.E.M.
Go Let It Out - Oasis
Deuces Are Wild - Aerosmith
Heart Shaped Box - Nirvana
Loaded - Primal Scream
In the Evening - Led Zeppelin
There Was a Time - Guns N' Roses
Paint It, Black - The Rolling Stones
Into the Fire - Bruce Springsteen
Romance In Durango - Bob Dylan

There's a very nice list.
Even my second favorite band is miles away from U2 in my rank, but it's always nice to hear something else.

I have the new album on repeat since last friday, before that I had NLOTH2 on repeat, before that I had Boots on repeat.

Last year I had WITS on repeat for.. three months or so.. after 999 listens I went back to shuffle.

I think I'm a bad example.

I only gets to play "No Line" repeatedly in my head (until I get my hand on the actual CD). Right now, I'm listening to some old U2, some "Street Fighter 4" soundtrack, some electro-jazz hip hop mp3s, and two new songs from the band "Metric". :D

US or U2?

I liked the CD when it was leaked, I havent played it for a week or so. I think I played it 10 times total. I just dont have the energy for the U2 hype machine this time around, to be honest. It's too draining and vampiric

With NLOTH, I have decided to absolutely overdose on all things U2. BBC, Letterman, extra tracks, homemade iPod tracklists, youTube clips, you name it. You have to enjoy it while it's here: a spectacular album, where most of the songs appear to be even better when played live. That hasn't happened really since Zoo TV!

so today I listened to

Boy
October
War
The Unforgettable Fire
The Joshua Tree
Rattle and Hum

in their entirety.

I think I have a problem

I listened to Rattle & Hum yesterday...pretty torturous to sit through the entire thing. "All I Want Is You" sounds more like a relief than anything else.

Meh:

Van Diemen's Land
When Love Comes To Town
Hawkmoon (too long)

Blegh:

all live stuff
Love Rescue Me
God Part II

Worth Owning The Disc For:

All I Want Is You
Angel of Harlem
Desire
Heartland

Hawkmoon is meh?!

Yeah Rattle & Hum is way too long

for me

5 stars:
Desire
Hawkmoon
Pride
Heartland
God Part II
Bullet
All I Want is You

4 stars:
Helter Skelter
Silver and Gold
Angel of Harlem

3 stars:
Van Dieman's Land
All Along the Watchtower (why this version? they've done waayy better ones)
When Love Comes to Town
The Star Spangled Banner (it's our national anthem! gotta show some respect)

2 stars:
Still Haven't Found (the 20 hour gospel version doesn't do it for me)
Love Rescue Me

1 star:
Freedom for my People

yeah so total I'd give it maybe a 7/10, not bad. Take out all the live stuff (even though Pride and Bullet are great imo) and the pointless transition tracks and the talking at the end of Van Dieman's Land and Love Rescue Me cuz its boring ... yeah take out all that stuff and you've got a damn good album

As much as I love this band, I cannot listen 'nothing but' for a month. I've been taking in some other stuff to prevent me from going insane.

And a month of abstaining prior to Tour is good for the head.

I also listened to Achtung Baby and Zooropa last night ... that's gotta be some record ... 8 albums in one day  and my paper didnt even get half-done

okay, I'm gonna listen to all the albums in order, and THEN listen to other stuff. yeah.

I've listened to mostly NLOTH the last couple weeks and have decided it's a phenomenal record. However, I think it's important to maintain perspective by mixing it in with other current good music. If you don't own these, you should immediately download them and mix them in...
