There's a request thread for it. Post your email over there and it will be sent to you. And it's the same song on both sides of the vinyl. But I don't think Soon is a B side :hmm: is it? I kind of see this vinyl for now as just a funky little gift that goes with the tour. But I do hope it turns out to actually be more, like a hint at what's to come.

i picked up the blu ray disc yesterday and watched it last night with a couple of drinks to see what it would feel like one day after i should have been in utah and nearly 8 months after Dallas / Norman.

My only complaint would be that Walk On and the mask thing doesn't translate very well on dvd either, much like the live show. The spirit is there, and the message is appreciated, but seeing that mask and her face on the big screen is kinda....creepy.

As for some of the complaints i have read about the venue, crowd, dvd quality, (darkness or grainess)....i have no idea what people are talking about. I thought they captured this one very well. The best (imo) u2 songs this decade were highlights of this dvd for me as well; MOS, COBL, BD, Magnificent....especially MOS. What a hauntingly beautiful song...epic performance.

i loved the entire performance except for Walk On. It was odd that they didnt have the Space Oddity - Kingdom (s00n) - Breath beginning to the show. Oh well...i do like the zooropa baby intro though. I loved all of the snippets too...IGC was superb.

I dont know what all of the Rose Bowl haters were on about. But i DO want to see another DVD of this tour, shot somewhere else to capture a different crowd and some new material before this thing wraps up. New claw tricks would be nice as well. Overall...im very impressed by this and moved by it all. Reminds me of two very special shows last fall where the magic was in the air long after the crowd dispersed and the limos left the gates. And again...MOS is just so very unbelieveably WOW....

Oh, man, just heard the Soon rip. Very nice...the higher quality really does add a lot. If the rest of SOA continues in this musical direction, I will be very happy indeed.

couldn't agree more! U2 HAVE to take this musical direction....this is such a fresh sounding song, free from the shackles of cheap, glossy overproduction to appease the superficial musical tastes of the masses. i LOOVVEEE it!

Checked Best Buy yesterday, either it was all gone or it hasn't arrived. Made up all my time looking for it by buying a new camera. :applaud:

Ok guys heres the deal...I slightly amplified the volume of SOON & segued it into BREATHE. anyone who wants this lemme know. Its much better than listening to the intro from the dvd. I have the whole show including this. If you want the link let me know. one.jag02@yahoo.com

Hi guys, first post.

Being a relatively new U2 fan (Discovered Achtung Baby last year and loved them ever since), I thought the DVD was brilliant. I've listened to and watched some of their 'top' gigs through the years and thought it matched them. Hell, I even watched it with some of my friends who aren't fans/think Bono is an ass, and they all agreed it was great.

I've got to agree with some posts on the quality of the filming; intentional or not, there is a bit of grain which is quite annoying. Brilliantly edited though, in my opinion.

The performance of Ultraviolet was the highlight for me: stunning.

Welcome

A couple of friends of mine watched the bootleg as well, and seemed equally stunned, although none of them were U2 fans. I think the consensus is starting to be the greatest U2 spectacle committed to film thus far.

Still waiting to see the whole show...

Finally got to watch the DVD. I absolutely loved it. It was edited brilliantly and sounded amazing. I even spotted myself once during Streets. I thought that Streets and Elevation in particular were able to capture the energy of the pit. Say what you will about Elevation the song, it gets the crowd going crazy. Ultraviolet was  as expected. It was just gorgeous. I agree with corianderstem my only quibble was not enough claw porn. There needed to be more shots of that incredible structure.

As for the bonus features, Breathe was weird. It looked like some of the footage was spliced from other shows. I loved the Squaring the Circle doc. It captured the madness that was the Claw.

I am quite critical when something is not quality so for me to be blown away is something. This is possibly the best concert video U2 has ever made (close to ZooTV, but maybe not that good.)

What made this was the directing. The guy that did the Elevation and Slane videos sucks. Plain and simple. His answer to everything was cut cut cut. But this director creates an experience. All the way from the (somewhat cheesy but effective) space beginning to the end - the tone is consistent and clear. The shots are on the screen long enough for you to digest them. And the stage is well represented with the helicopter shots.

I bought the iTunes with the extras. Worth the $15 for sure.

Mallet is still better, but this director is close. If it wasn't for Vertigo (and Boots to a lesser extent) this DVD would be almost the best. But Zoo TV still wins.

There wide shots of the Claw during every song ?

Well yeah, there are shots of the Claw, but I was hoping for a good shot of it when it was doing something spectacular, like when the lights go up on it and into the sky at the begnning of COBL.

There were a few moments like that with the Claw, if I remember correctly. Seems a shame to miss those opportunities on the DVD. They couldn't spare an extra 2-3 seconds here and there to show it in action?

I thought those BD-Live clips were cool. Hopefully they'll make use of that during the European leg. That would be so great.

I
And the stage is well represented with the helicopter shots.

What I loved the most was the shot OF one of the helicopters outside the bowl. And the flag pole on the lip of the upper tier, it seemed like it was on the stage for a split second ..total optical illiusion. That was COOl.
And the way they faded into some of the shots with the crowd mixed in behind/over the band. I like!
MOS was so moving that way.....really great.

The thing they missed was the moment of the screen expanding.

The missed the screen expanding during Unforgettable Fire

Missed the lights coming on at the start of COBL, the missed all the colour transitions during COBL and the search lights and came in late for the sparkly white bit.

The editing during Vertigo ruins the light show and the transition from large screen to small screen.

During Crazy there's not one shot of the spire strobing.

Ultraviolet manages to not to have one shot showing the mirrorball at the top of the spire during the end of the song.

So many missed opportunities with the claw and to be honest most of the missed shots were missed for pretty mundane actions. I'm not a fan of the quick cut and this dvd is largely missing it (except for Boots and Vertigo) but some of the shots linger on when more interesting things are happening.

anyone know what the Exclusive Bonus track is that comes with the purchase of the concert via itunes?

Yes! Thank you.

The DVD is fun, I'm happy to have it, but jeez, talk about wasted opportunities. You talk up the stage until you're blue in the face, and then don't show it off? BOO.
