There's a huge gap between 4. and 5. selection. Also there is a gap between 9. and 10. :)

All subject to change but I tend to have 3 different groups of U2 albums by quality:

MY CLASSIC CDS
1. Achtung Baby
2. Joshua Tree
3. ATYCLB
4. Boy

MY NOW & AGAIN CDS
5. Pop
6. HTDAAB
7. Unforgettable Fire
8. Rattle & Hum

MY DUSTY CDS
9. Zooropa
10. October
11. War

Although Zooropa, October and War have some of my favourite songs on (Lemon, Stay, Scarlet, I Fall Down, New Year's Day, Like A Song) they also contain some of my least favourites (Seconds, Surrender, ITABTAW, Stranger in a Strange Land, Dirty Day, SDABTO). Having 4 Classics, 4 Now & Agains and only 3 Dusties, I hope NLOTH doesn't even it up at 4-a-piece!

Some considerations:

I think i have been as much honest as possible. Even though Boy it's a landmark in rock, building a new sound for the beginning of the 80's and even by today standarts is a fine work with great melodies and much energy i listen to Bomb much more. Unforgettable Fire has a unique sound; two all time classics and a finesse in it's production that U2 will surpass again.
I strongly believe that almost all U2 albums are classics. From 1-8 i think just Bomb falls short from the definition of a classic. All others have their special place in the history of rock.

So in my humble opinion there is just three weak album in their catalogue, Pop, Zooropa and October. The first one has glimpses of a stronger work, Zooropa as conceptual album is intriguing and cinical, but it has too many weak songs. And the last one has three great songs, two of them superb classics, Gloria and Tomorrow, but that is it.

And no, i don't consider Passaengers an U2 album, thanks God!
