Pop album - what went wrong..?

The friendliest place on the web for anyone that follows U2.

Which begs the question, does anybody here love BOTH Pop and All That You Can't Leave Behind?

Love them both!

I love the boldness or Pop. I love the sonics. After all these years I can put the album on and hear something layered into the mix. Lyrically, it is phenomenal.

ATYCLB is a very fresh sounding album still to this day. My opinion is that the album is a masterpiece. Pop sensibilities with a cohesive feel. A little front loaded, but then again so was TJT.

There is nothing wrong with Pop. It's a great album. Mofo, Gone, Do you feel loved are among their best work ever.

Once again. We are talking about taste. You can't argue about that.

Your "greatest triumph in music history" includes:

1. A silly singalong about moles digging in holes.
2. A Michael Bolton-ish saccharine self help number.
3. Lyrics like "I was a monkey stealing honey from a swarm of bees" and "what is soul, love me, gimme soul".

Because boom chas and miami my mammy were clearly gold lines.

Try Motown influence, not Bolton.

Agree also. Pop is a great album as is ATYCLB.
ATYCLB was also the first U2 album I ever bought.
I then wound up buying U2's entire music catalog.
Worked my way backwards.

Have it your way Berger King and box notes I don't understand I will no longer worry and feel bad that he may be singing words I gave to someone else
