"U2 on autopilot, going through the motions."

This one I'm familiar with... I wonder if I read it somewhere on Interference.

just because we listen to it over and over doesn't mean it gets worse. Just watched Letterman performance again...wow. Top of their game right there

The Fly kinda sucks compared to some stuff here, like Zooropa, but let's see. I'm still betting on Streets.

4. (3) With or Without You - 2126.2

""I can't live... with or without you" he warbles on this record, but he goes on living - this guy is such a liar and a jerk"
"over-produced late 80's guitar-pop."
"the point where Bono's ego swelled up to the point that it outgrew his tiny body and became a separate entity"
"U2 took a great thing and ruined it"

Dammit, I had been saving this one:

Haven't we all heard Beautiful Day 1,000 times too many?

its so optomistic though:heart:.. i love u2, so why is u2 by the numbers a bad thing? that would make it the most pure u2,,,, right??? and i love u2,,,, so the more pure the u2 the better? right?!?!?!?!

as long as they only do a couple of "u2 by the numbers" songs its all good, and this is my favorite of them all <3

It's U2 by numbers.

I disagree. They have tried to do it since (Miracle Drug, Crazy Tonight) but I don't see many songs *that* similar before. Even if it isn't as experimentally bold as The Fly or Zooropa, it's still executed about as perfectly as you can execute a song. Much more uplifting lyrics and perfect sing-along concert song as well

3. (4) The Fly - 2152.3

"most people love Bono almost as much as Bono loves money"
If 'The Fly' is any indication of the rest of 'Achtung, Baby' and
U2's musical direction, I think we can fashion 4 caskets, and label
them: Bono, Edge, Adam, and Larry. U2 is dead. What an unimaginative
piece of garbage.
"Irish Catholic pub rock"
"the band wouldn't have recognised irony if it moved next door to them"
"What a stupid title for a song. "
You
should like U2 because they're U2, not out of some slavish adherence to
fandom. I like U2 and I think The Fly is a shitty song.
