Not that McCulloch's jealous of course. Echo & the Bunnymen begin a UK tour of mid-sized theatres in December, while U2 have recently concluded a tour of the world's biggest sports stadiums.

The last paragraph says it all, pure jealously.

Yeah, because no band has ever admitted to admire U2 or being influenced by them.

Maybe someone should help him out of bed, so he can leave his house for a change.

I mean, there's critisism you could argue about and then there's pure nonsense. These comments fall into the latter category.

I always thought echo and the bunnymen were highly overrated, one or two decent tunes but that's it.

Ah, Ian, just shut up and go back to music that sounds like a poor man's Coldplay. Who are a poor man's U2...which means you're a poor poor man's U2 . Or is that a double negative meaning that he's a rich man's U2?

poor man's Coldplay? Echo and the Bunnymen are much better than Coldplay.

Neil McCormick's summed it up nicely in his twitter posts:-

For you Ian, the war is over. & you lost. 'Ian McCulloch: U2 are for teenagers'

I loved Echo & The Bunnymen as much as I ever loved a band. But now they're bedraggled session men reheating old glories to pay mortgages

@U2log What's sad is that he is so jealous. He once complained to me that he should have written Stay ... & starred in the video!

He actually said this also:

Do you ever think that “The Killing Moon” is bigger than the band itself?
“The Killing Moon” is more than a song, it’s about everything. It’s up there with “Suzanne” by Leonard Cohen, “Blowin In the Wind,” “In My Life.” Every time I sing it I feel like… [looks perplexed] whoa, something just happened there. I let the crowd sing along with it now too. It used to put me off… like being in Glasgow something they’d all sound like “och aye, da dee dee…” But now I really enjoy it. It’s hard enough to get a band to agree and say ‘that’s the one.’ But with “The Killing Moon,” everyone gets it.”

His ego knows no bounds. If nothing else, he can provide some interesting sound bites.

Dear Ian McCrapough:

Shut the fuck up. Every time you open your mouth, I have to go listen to one of your great songs to convince myself that you quite possibly aren't a complete twat and are just going senile in your old age.

Bono, for his part, still manages to write the odd good tune, at his old age.

Thanks.

Somebody's JEALOUS! With a capital J. I like Echo & the Bunnymen but this is just a way to spread info on their tour. They want attention. And the U2 is for 14 year olds comment. He's right! It is. I listened to them when I was 14 and have been since age 11. I hate the people who say shit about U2. Keep your mouth shut! If you don't I'll bitch slap you into the middle of next month!

People, people, you aren't meant to get mad at McCulloch! You're meant to laugh!

What a sodding mountain goat.

"Who buys U2 records anyway? It's just music for plumbers and bricklayers. Bono, what a slob. You'd think with all that climbing about he does, he'd look real fit and that. But he's real fat, y'know. Reminds me of a soddin' mountain goat."
"And as for Bono, he needs a colostomy bag for his mouth."

I did laugh, seriously. But that doesn't change the fact that I am pissed.

Your research will lead you to classic bile spat at almost anybody on the planet.
