I don't understand releases like this... who in their right mind would buy this when they could just listen to the real thing? There are plenty of original bands who struggle to get signed to labels and stuff... yet crap like this gets released all the time. I don't get it. Who finances these things?

i can't talk for everybody who does a tribute album--just myself--the subject of this thread--my cover of 'all i want is you' was from actually my 9th cd called 'jewish pirate'--basically i did 26 cover tunes from all different artists-some certainly better some worse than others and donated 100% of the gross proceeds to charity--it actually raised a few hundred dollars for some local no-kill shelters where i've adopted my puppies--it was financed of course from my own pocket

hope that clears some stuff up for you guys

okay so i can maybe SORT OF a little bit see why people see tribute bands, u2 don't come to their town, cheaper, etc. etc.
but a tribute CD? WHY?? why not try the REAL u2 cd's?!?!?!
