Disappearing Act

The friendliest place on the web for anyone that follows U2.

Listening to Muse's new single now, which I hadn't heard before. Then onto Disappearing Act.

Disappearing Act is a lot more interesting than Uprising, for me.

But who ever described it as UF meets Zooropa is dead on, odd.

Holy fuck, that sounds epic. This needs to be played live next year... preferably this year.

It also sounds like Brian and possibly Danny were joining in vocal harmonies.

wait, so is this a song they recorded back during the UF sessions? it sounds awesome... I usually don't get super excited about older unreleased stuff, but I really wanna hear this!

The drums, guitar, and bass are from 1983. They 'finished it up' in France 'a few weeks ago', which I take to mean when they were in Nice. They probably added extra keyboard 'n' stuff there, possibly with Eno/Lanois. The vocals are either from those Nice sessions, or, depending on your source, from the NLOTH sessions (I've seen both pieces of information peddled around this thread, though I believe they hinted at the former in the interview).

Anyone trying to figure out the lyrics ?

I don't re-commence
you think your future
is torn to shreds
from all the lovers they can do your beds **
and new things that can't you can't learn
(or is it "and you think that you can't love?)
someone in two hearts
you do you your dissapearing act...

**anyone hearing those two words at the end of that line ?

I'm hearing "from all the lovers taken to your beds - they're empty now" and "and you think that you can't love?". I'm almost certain that I'm right on the latter (because Bono sings it over the recording), but I'm more iffy on the former.

This is what I hear:

I know we'll recommence / (be convinced?)
Your nightgown's ??? is torn to shreds
From all the lovers taken to your beds
They're empty now

And you think that you can't love
And you think that you can't love
And you think that you can't love
Someone in two hearts (?)

You do your disappearing act
And you do your disappearing - -
( act, perhaps?)

Also, I think I'm hearing be convinced instead of recommence. But I'm not sure.

I really need to hear this whole song now. This sounds even better than Kingdom... I haven't been this excited for a new song since the NLOTH WalMart clips of UC, MOS, and Magnificent. :gah:

I'm almost wishing this was on NLOTH or SOA. It sounds like it would make literally a perfect single... catchy as hell, but innovative, spooky, spacey, modern, futuristic, and generally awesome.

Or like Angels too tied to the ground for the War remaster. Old music, new vocals.
