Very disappointed with this song. I was expecting a lot from it. Oh well.

sorry to hear you don't like it. if i could offer some hope, i really think this song is a grower. at the moment, i like it, but don't love it yet. i find some of the transitions a little difficult and it does sound a little like 2009 Bono mixed with 1984 U2, which makes it a little ackward at times. another thing is that i don't think the mp3's that have been circulating are anywhere near close to top notch quality. so i'm very interested to hear this song on CD quality.

there are parts of this song that i really enjoy. this is the U2 that i like the most (UF, 90's, and NLOTH), so i'm guessing that this song will really grow on me and become one of my favorites.

There's something vaguely Achtung Baby about the lyric, isn't there? Lepers and beds... and songs about relationships like this weren't really the kind of songs Bono often wrote back in 1984 were they?

I sort of noticed this as well. I was thinking about how in terms of what is happening with the lyrics, it's very Achtung Baby, while it's still got some of the 'obviousness' of 2000s Bono's writing.

just listened again this morning, and yes, this song is really growing on me. good stuff!

It is a shame that that there was so much time between the minute radio clip and the actual leak. I wonder how many people let their imaginations create the rest of the song in that time. Rarely if ever does the actual song meet expectations after that. I think Disappearing Act might be suffering from impossible expectations...

Personally, I think the song is amazing and I'd love the band to be influenced by it on SOA.

that's why i will never listen to a beach clip again. i really let my imagination make "Magnificent" better than the final product. while i still love the song, i thought it was going to be more like WOWY and couldn't pick up the disco sounds from the beach clip.

Nice. A bit odd to hear 2009 Bono on a 1984 U2 song...
and is it just me or is he really singing "Baby doll" at about 3:14 ?

Yoshino Blossom is just a typical U2 UF instrumental. Pass.

I agree. I think there is something nearly jarring about the new vocals on the this music. Its not bad, just different. The music really has that "1984 U2" feel and that piano ending just might be the best part of what all these rare tracks have to offer. What I do like about the vocals is the "do your disappearing act" parts. It feels very Pink Floyd-like. It feels in line with the Kingdom intro to the 360 show. I am getting a Floydian vibe in certain vocals. Message to band - please pursue this with SoA.

It feels like an 8/10 right now. Mostly because this is new. I can see this being a 7/10 (maybe 6?) for me over time.

i really like how the "you do your disappearing act" part grooves into the verses.

This leaked already? Where you guys are listening to these songs?

...Da-da-da-da-da
Oh...oh...

You do your disappearing act
You do your disappearing act

Silence, I know I could get used to this
Cunning, your sin is something I'm not gonna miss
Exile, it's a small price to pay for bliss
Alone, like the painter's dog without a bone?
When there's only one thing you need to own
And that is hunger, hunger itself

I know you'll be ??
Your night is ripped and it is torn to shreds
From all the lovers taken to your beds
They're empty now
And you think that you can love
And you think that you can love
And you think that you can love someone into love

You do your disappearing act
You do your disappearing act

Jealousy, it's not what it's cracked up to be
Envy, gets you where you need to be
Alone, rather the river than your stepping stones
Leave the graveyard 'fore you turn to bones
I'm tragic, you're comedy

Oh, baby doll, the dogs are barking, they need to be fed
All the lepers you let in your head - is it empty now?
Cos you think that can love
And you think that you can love
And you think that you can love someone into love

You do your disappearing act
You do your disappearing act

i think the ?? is convinced. I listened on headphones and heard the con-part but thought the rest sounded like dress, then in the car I listened and clearly heard the vince part. I think B is lazy and doesnt pronounce the d at the end which causes the confusion

the line that is listed as "your night is ripped and it is torn to shreds" is slightly wrong. The first "is" is a "just". Also, it could be night, mind or might. Sounds most like "might" to me, but that doesnt make much sense, so I though it was mind, because it sounds more like an "m" than an "n"

so did I mia, but overwhelming opinion was that I was wrong. It is an 'e' sound, not an 'i' sound he is singing. I think the complete lyrics are:

You do your disappearing act

Exile, it's a small price to pay for bliss

I know you'll be convinced
Your mind just ripped and it is torn to shreds
From all the lovers taken to your beds
They're empty now
And you think that you can love
