Whew! After months of meticulous research at u2wanderer.org and internet vendor searching, I've finally done it! With Robbie Robertson's ROBBIE ROBERTSON [Expanded Edition]/STORYVILLE [Expanded Edition] and his French 3" "Fallen Angel" CD single, I've reached the 201 mark on buying mint/near-mint U2 and U2-related (singles, soundtracks, other artists' albums with one or more members of U2 guest performing, etc.) CDs! Though I still have a few straggling items I need to track down, I think I may now have what could honestly be regarded as one of the most comprehensive U2 libraries on the planet. Quite honestly, I listen to them more and more to the exclusion of all my other non-U2 CDs. There are only a few (Nanci Griffith, Sharon Shannon and Emmylou Harris come to mind) that are more of a chore to get through than a joy.

 thats some hobby!!!!

Wow, you're one of the 13 people that actually bought that album!

I have that album too, it's one of my favorites...despite how most seem to deem it as garbage.

Hasnt Got Billy Boola with Gavin Friday in it!!

Perhaps you missed it--I have this on my list (which contains "Billy Boola", a really fun track):

Jones, Trevor/U2's Bono, Gavin Friday, M. Seezer: In the Name of the Father--Music From the Motion Picture Soundtrack

Or do you refer to some remix of which I'm not familiar?

With Robbie Robertson's ROBBIE ROBERTSON [Expanded Edition]/STORYVILLE [Expanded Edition] and his French 3" "Fallen Angel" CD single

How is U2 involved with the "Fallen Angel" single? Is "Testimony" a b-side on that one? I thought that was the only song they were involved with from that album. Or maybe that's where the Testimony 12" mix originally came from?

It is a remix of "Testimony", certainly different from the 12" Edited Remix on ROBBIE ROBERTSON [Expanded Edition], but possibly the basis for it--I've only listened to both remixes twice each so far, at different times from one another, so I'm still not sure. More details on the "Falling Angel" version copied (and embellished with missing details) from u2wanderer.org:

U2 contributed to Robbie Robertson's 1987 solo album. The entire band, as well as Daniel Lanois, contributed to two tracks ["Sweet Fire of Love" and "Testimony"] which were recorded in Ireland during the JOSHUA TREE recording sessions. This single features one of these tracks ["Testimony"] remixed. The remix was only available on the French version of the single, and isn't featured on other releases.

Oh! Of course... I forgot about "Sweet Fire of Love." That was actually the more popular of the U2 songs from that album.

Ok, while we're on the subject (this is not necessarily U2-related), can you tell me a bit more about the Robbie Robertson/Storyville expanded release? Is it in a digipak or a jewel case? Is there a booklet included and do the original album covers appear anywhere? How does the remastering sound?

I ordered this set last week (hasn't arrived yet), and I'm wondering if it's going to be worth the big money they're charging for it.

It is in a fold-out digipak. There is a booklet included, including a new foreward by Robbie looking back on what made these two albums special for him. I'm at work right now and don't have the CD with me to confirm if the original album art is included within; I think so, but don't hold me to it--sorry. The remastering, brace yourself, and I don't know how this is possible (obviously through electronic remastering trickery, but of a very good kind), but the audio quality is a major step up from the MFSL 24K Gold Original Master Recording CD--there is a tremendous increase in the punch and force of the bass and percussion; it certainly does not sound like a 20 year old album. I'm still keeping the MFSL disc, too, but this one will be the one I actually pull out to listen to from now on.

Emmylou Harris' Wrecking Ball is a fantasic album and anything but a chore to get through, God Part II's opinion nonwithstanding.

That said, impressive collection my friend.

Thanks very much for the info! I'm glad there's a booklet and I'm REALLY glad the sound quality has dramatically improved. The first album is one of my all-time favorites and I can't wait to hear the sonic upgrade. I never got the MSFL version.

Thanks again for the info, and as many others have said, your U2 collection is truly impressive! :)

If you like your music with a heavy country-western inspiration; RATTLE AND HUM is about as close as I can comfortably come to country music.
