"Bad" in Linkin Park??

The friendliest place on the web for anyone that follows U2.

Many bands are influenced by other bands, it only becomes stealing after a certain point. Just because a song has the same mood or chord progression doesnt make it automatically a rip off.

Also I dont know if this comparison has ever been shown, but as many know U2 was heavily influenced (at least Edge) by shoegazing bands during the writing of Achtung baby. In this song from chapterhouse released in 1990, you can hear some of the roots of mysterious ways (listen to the guitar and bass) which was released just a year later:

It sounds familiar, but yet 2 different songs!

Maybe it was unintended, but your post made it seem as if you thought that sound originated with The Stooges.

It didn't originate with The Stooges, but that's where U2 originally ripped it from (as indicated from their comments in U2 by U2).

Bono also added snippets of that song to Desire performances on the Lovetown tour.
