I figure it would be a great idea to start this thread. Many fans who go to concerts enjoy collecting memorabilia and items related to the band. Apart from the U2 shrine in my house, another interest lies in collecting guitar picks from the band. When it comes to U2 there are two kinds of picks / plectrums

1) An authentic pick - these are picks that Edge, Bono, or Adam would actually use in concert and strum their guitars with. They are usually made by a company called Herdim that are located in West Germany. The guitar techs that U2 employ also have these picks and sometimes hand them out to fans.

2) A tour pick - these are picks that are used to commemorate the artist (in our case U2), the performer (in our case Bono, Adam, or Edge), and the tour (Elevation, 360, Vertigo). These are not used on guitars but are more like a souvenir type item that is in the shape of a plectrum / pick.

This article that was written by someone else in 2010 has the most extensive information that I've found to date and dealing with U2 picks.

U2 Picks! | Pick Collecting Quarterly

I'm going to post my collection thus far. It would be neat for other people to also post pictures of any other picks that aren't posted. I'll post ones from my collection as well as some others out there.

The front and back of an authentic Bono pick from U2 360. Notice the Herdim micro bumps. Notice the fading of the Bono stamp. Maybe faded from guitar use.

An authentic pick (I think it's Bono's) from the Elevation tour. Front and back. Again....notice the Herdim bumps. Notice the raised U2 inside the circle.

A gem of a tour pick. You know the dudes who worked the U2 360 bridges? Well one of them gave me this one. Kinda cool!

Ok...so I thought I'd throw this authentic pick here just so you know that U2 isn't the only band in the world that has their own picks / plectrums with their names on them. So many other bands do it. I got this one in Pittsburgh.

Thanks for sharing. It is interesting to see how they change over the years. The picks are fun to collect. My husband picked up a Nuno pick from an old Extreme tour and he has one from We are the Fallen as well.

Great thread!!! :hyper: :applaud: I love picks. Sadly don't have one at all.but with some patience... :shifty:

Especially nice to show that Bridge brothers pick. Very awesome mr. Mark.

After I posted, I also noticed that the way they printed Bono's signature is the same in all the genuine ones. On the fake ones the prints are bigger and pointing upwards to the right corner!

Anyway, I think that it would be more special to me, if I got it from one of the band members or one of the techs, not buying it on ebay. But then again I'm not a collector, but if I got it at a concert, I would guard it with my life

Same here , I will never ever buy signatures or memorabilia,
It should have a memory attached to it, and as far as I can tell memories are not for sale on Ebay.

Completely agree. I see no value in bought autographs.

And I would NEVER sell my pick.

Dallas gave me a Bono Superbowl pick at the Lansing show. My first show and I got to meet Dallas!

Hey after Tom Meighan signed my stuff , autographs in general have no real value to me. I prefer pictures. Or guitar pics. :D One day I'll get one from Edge or Dallas.
