It would be nice to have an update about Bono, I would understand if they hold off announcing anything about the tour, but they could at least let us know if he's recovering ok.

:up::yes:

Totally agree. I kept on going onto Google News today to see if there was an update (Can't have access to Interference.com or U2.com at my work..."Big Brother" is watching us)...

I can't believe U2 fans haven't heard of Dizzie Rascal. Oh wait, yes I can.

And you know that because?

Last time I checked Keith was getting drunk, climbed on a palm tree and fell down. The stones had to cancel shows because of that. I guess with the right drug dose he was able to perform again. Just look at them, they are totally wasted. And blaming Bono for being injured and in pain is simply lame, sorry to say.

And nowhere did it say it was "spinal surgery". We don't have any official information and people should stop panicking. I think it's fairly common for a neurosurgeon to be present when something's done on someone's back because nerves almost always are affected.

I think we will see more cancellations than we'd like to, but I don't think they will cancel the whole tour. IF they do so, I'd be very worried for Bono. I hope it's nothing that serious.

It wasn't a palm tree. He likes to sit on limbs. Palm tree's don't have any

"Last time I checked Keith was getting drunk, climbed on a palm tree and fell down. The stones had to cancel shows because of that. I guess with the right drug dose he was able to perform again. Just look at them, they are totally wasted."

Such hate . At least a 60 year old can climb a tree, and still play a mean axe.

And blaming Bono for being injured and in pain is simply lame, sorry to say.

Blame him? Why would I blame him for being injured?

And nowhere did it say it was "spinal surgery".

"a specialist neuro surgery unit in a Munich hospital, and is under the care of neuro surgeon Prof. Dr. Jorg Tonn

Nuero=nerve= neck or back, spinal ... It's true. Would be a very good clue , especially considering his history. "

They don't do vascular stents, or even knee's . If it said Urologist, we could narrow that down too.

Watch the Barcelona vid. He kept grabbing his left side back, down a little below the hip . Saw it both Tampa and Ga shows. That is classic for an L-4 L-5 problem . 4-6 weeks min. If it was only one disk.

I don't blame him . he will feel much better , and be in less pain.

He is a classic. No question about that. Mick, he and Charlie are all in excellent shape.

Last one the No Doubt Girl ( think shes 50 now too ) was trying to run the stage when opening. She was trying to do a "Mick" . She was totally out of breath in 2 passes.

When the Stones came on, Mick, all of them , were bing bang booming all over the Stadium , 3 1/2 hours non- stop .Not many 20 year olds could do what Charlie Watts does for 15 minutes. Go figure

Guess 60 is the new 80 .

Looking forward to their tour also

Is that because herniated discs are putting pressure on the spine? Hence "spine surgery"?

Neuro=Nerve The disk(s) put pressure on the nerves that are woven all through the spine . The disk can trap them against the bone . It is very painfull and usually constant depending on severity , can make your legs numb/shooting pain etc . Just as a we care thing, it's better they decided to fix it now . It is a really draining pain.

It is no fun... But yes, 4-6 weeks, depending on PT, he could do that . Generally speaking

Somebody suggested on another board trying to get Depeche Mode as a replacement at Glasto, they're in Prague on Thursday and Paris the Saturday but are off on the Friday, and won't be playing the UK again until December... Only thing is are they up to four shows in a row...

that was 2009's tour schedule.

U2.com > News > Bono Discharged from Hospital

25 May 2010
Bono has now been discharged from Ludwig Maximilians-University (LMU) Hospital in Munich where he underwent emergency surgery on Friday, following a back injury. In order to fully recover, he is under doctor's orders to start a rehabilitation program and to recuperate for at least eight weeks.

Dr Muller Wohlfahrt confirmed, 'Bono suffered severe compression of the sciatic nerve. On review of his MRI scan, I realized there was a serious tear in the ligament and a herniated disc, and that conservative treatment would not suffice. I recommended Bono have emergency spine surgery with Professor Tonn at Munich's LMU University Hospital on Friday.'

Professor Tonn, who carried out the operation, added, 'Bono was referred to me by Dr Muller Wohlfahrt late last week with a sudden onset disease. He was already in severe pain with partial paralysis in the lower leg. The ligament surrounding the disc had an 8mm tear and during surgery we discovered fragments of the disc had traveled into the spinal canal. This surgery was the only course of treatment for full recovery and to avoid further paralysis. Bono is now much better, with complete recovery of his motor deficit. The prognosis is excellent but to obtain a sustainable result, he must now enter a period of rehabilitation'.

Dr Muller Wohlfahrt continued, 'We are treating Bono as we would treat any of our athletes and while the surgery has gone very well, the coming weeks are crucial for a return to full health. In the next days, he will start a light rehabilitation program, with increasing intensity over the next 8 weeks. In our experience, this is the minimum time.'

The NA leg is also postponed and that is being discussed in the other thread in the tour forum.

I hope Bono really follows the advice of his medical team and takes care. I don't mind if we don't see him for quite a while if he's really working on his recovery. I don't want to see him jet around the world and have a hundred different appointments a week. He needs rest and he needs to focus on what's important. I know he's not that kind of guy, but if he starts being too active too early, we might not see any more U2 shows in the future.

Yikes, reading that statement was sobering!

Really glad he's expected to be okay. Bummed about the NA leg, but would rather have a healthy Bono. I can wait a year.

I was really looking forward to Anaheim next month. I guess now I can look forward to seeing them next year.

Get well during these next 8 weeks, Bono!

Looking on the good side, he has alot of time to sit down and think about everything. The band, himself ect, so in a way its really good. As we know he lives an hectic life that doesnt stop when on tour ect, so he has a good 8 week to relax and think about things. Not to mention his voice has had a very long rest now.
