A Sort of Homecoming

Is this anyone else's favorite song? I know it's hard to pick just one song, but if I had to, it would be A Sort of Homecoming.

I've been hoping for this beautiful gem to re-appear in U2's setlists for ages, now. And stil I do. It is a musical painting, a vision of beauty and growth, an emotional landscape. It would be really awesome, if U2 would return to dust this tune off – and play it in summer ...

One of their very best.
I think the studio version is way better than the live version.
But if they would add more atmos to it like on the studio version it would sound justlive on the next tour.
It`s possible with today`s technology

Cheers ,

Mauwer

p.s. Now when is TUF remaster coming? , this and NLOTH would make this year just

It's one of my top 10 favorites, that's for sure. I think it's the best on UF.

Easily in my top five U2 songs. I can't really get enough of this song. It's one of those utterly magical tracks that captivates me every time and has kept me interested in U2 even when I've thought I'm sick of them. As soon as I hear the first minute of this song, I'm reminded why I love U2. And then the icing on the cake is the different way it was played live.

"Who buys U2 records anyway? It's just music for plumbers and bricklayers. Bono, what a slob. You'd think with all that climbing about he does, he'd look real fit and that. But he's real fat, y'know. Reminds me of a soddin' mountain goat."
"And as for Bono, he needs a colostomy bag for his mouth."

It's possible that I sort of like this song. Somewhere on my profile, interference name, etc, there might be a clue.......

I'm crazy for this song too. Besides the song "Pride," the whole UF album is so cryptic, yet each song has that essential atmosphere. I can't imagine coming off such a direct album as WAR... one that launched the band into fame... and be willing to take such a serious artistic risk as UF was. It's the album that made them timeless.

The studio version has that gorgeous layered sound that is so prevalent on the whole UF album. Easily one of the few U2 songs where the live version is weaker than the studio version. The live version always seemed a little strained and forced. That said there is no reason why it should not have been played live instead of going awol for the past 20 years.

It's a great song. I'm baffled as to how that entire album was produced. It's inimitable.

One of my all-time favourites. It's such a beautiful song.

I'd love to hear it live, some day. Would be incredible if they played it this tour!
