art needs no justification

more snow. it is supposed to keep coming for a day or so. that should make all the snowboarders among us happy.

listening to Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, "no more shall we part". I love this album so much. He has such a way with words and such a unique vocal style and lyric delivery. I am really glad that Matt introduced me to this artist last year. Now I listen to this CD and see all of Europe stretching before me from a train window...as I listened to it almost non-stop when travelling through Germany, Netherlands, Czech, Austria, Slovakia, Hungary, Croatia, and Slovenia last October. Funny how music can have such distinct ties in ones mind to place and time.

while making lunch today, I played a bit of the U2 New Years 89 concert. I swear, that intro with the countdown and the New Year combined with Streets almost always brings tears to my eyes...and I am not by nature a teary-eyed person.

at lunch today we talked about the statement, "every emotion is a theological statement." interesting thought, but a bit over-reaching I think. Any time you use the word "all" you are probably overstating. lol. However, the idea that our fears and anger and joy and love tell us something about our epistimology and our theology, our view of God and the world...there is something to that. Dread...is life predictable...is God predictable...is God good? Trustworthy? I know this has been at the core of much of the questions I have asked and studied while here at L'Abri.
