Ahhh...memories of my youth

Posted 01-05-2009 at 07:56 PM by Discoteque

The things you find when you do major house cleaning! I spent all weekend going through parts of my place that have become "crap catch-alls" like a dresser I use for storage, my computer room closet, and my patio storage area, which hasn't been touched since I moved here about 6 years ago! I can't believe how much junk I was hanging onto, it was pathetic! But now everything has its place, yay! And I have a mountain of stuff by the door headed for the trash or food Goodwill. Good riddance!

Anyway, one of the things I found amongst a bunch of papers was my 6th grade class picture, LOL! Talk about memories!

Some highlights:
1: I used to chase this guy around the playground and kick him. And yet he'd always come back for more. The weird thing? When I was about 20, I ran into him again at a movie theater. He was with his best friend WHO HAD MY EXACT NAME, but was a boy. We talked about how we always got each others' phone calls and mail. Freaky.
4: My mean teacher. He made kids cry all the time, but I liked it when he played Bill Cosby and George Carlin albums in class during projects.
5: Our principal – looks mean but was very nice.
8: One of my first 'boyfriends' when we were little. His family moved away, and then he was diagnosed with schizophrenia or something as a teen. Subsequently, he committed suicide about 20 years ago. Very sad, he was a nice kid.
9: Yours truly, always the fashion plate. Mysterious ways? Yeah, that's a RED ruffley shirt I'm wearing there. Bono would be proud. I prolly had on my blue and white checkered pants and groovy blue suede booties too. Ha.
13: At our last reunion, she'd had a boob job and her hair was as blonde as Gwen Stefani! Everyone was all: WHUH?
18: Came from one of the wealthiest families in town and wore a new outfit every day. Became a dentist, then a doctor, and then married one too.
20: Was on the pom-pom squad with her in high school. Rah!
22: Her brother had a BBQ restaurant here in Texas, LOL.
24: Since kingergarten, she's been one of my very best friends. Still is.
28: She was my best friend at this time, but we lost touch in middle school. She had horses and I was horse CRAZY, so we fit well together. I used to go with her to the stables to watch her ride, and I started taking horseback riding lessons myself. I still remember her first horse's name: Blue Indigo. And now I have a kitty named Blue.

Good times.

LOL...not unless Austin Powers was a GIRL!

6th grade, what is that, about 12 years old? Yeah, 11-12 years old, because when you go to middle school you're about 13, right?
