Being a Ryan Adams fan could keep you really busy in years like 2005 when the prolific prodigy released three full-length discs. But with a recent engagement to movie-star Mandy Moore and an alleged retirement from the Cardinals and rockstardom proper (due in part to serious issues with hearing loss), Ryan Adams just made being his devoted fan something sad and nostalgic and perhaps just a little bitter.

For almost five years, the U2 fan community has waited patiently for the follow-up to 2004′s How to Dismantle An Atomic Bomb. With the first single out to the Interwebs and radio, with lots of press and plenty of previews, the build-up was reaching an unbearable breaking point.

Then, the inevitable happened. The album leaked. For many faithful, this resembled getting to open the Christmas presents in early December. Some resisted the temptation and said they would wait. Others indulged. A certain guilt could be felt amid the singing and dancing and interpreting and assessing.

Down I-24 heading South off exit 111 is the starting point for Cumberland Caverns.  This area becomes flooded once a year with free spirits from across the country coming together for Bonnaroo.  On the Saturday before the Super Bowl, however, it’s just a pit stop.  Friendly faces talk inside the gas stations and buy lottery tickets.
